Teaching Rock Music History?
If you are teaching the History of Rock and Roll you’ll find that there are a number of contentious issues that are likely to come up, that you’ll have to find a way to deal with. One of them is drugs. Like it or not, many Rock stars have used drugs as a way to deal with problems, and some of them have made substantial money from their endeavors they can afford the habit. They then are examples to our kids about what to do. Teaching the history of rock and roll in the classroom gives us a unique opportunity to show kids what drugs can do – really devastate lives, as many rock stars who have tragically died due to drug abuse.
