Not Mentioning Pre-Existing Medical Conditions When Applying for Insurance Can Cause You to be Turned Down
My mother was turning forty and was interested in increasing her disability and life insurance coverage in case anything major happened, she would be cared for in her future and so would the family. She met with her agent and a nurse. She had to answer their questions and do some testing. When asked about her health history, it came up that she had taken anti-depressants for a six months when her first husband left her. According to the insurance company, she had Pre-Existing Medical Conditions. She had not written it on her paperwork because she had forgotten about it over the years. It had been five years ago. The insurance company denied allowing her to increase her coverage because they felt she was trying to cover up a depression problem that could, in the end, cause them a lot of money.
